Using the outline editor

The built-in outline editor allows you to create a simple outline to base your paper on. It supports nesting of topics, and each topic has a section for detailed notes or comments.

To add a new topic:

Step 1

If you are not already in the outline editing mode, choose View > Editing Mode > Outlining from the menu bar.

Step 2

Click the Add button below the outline.

Step 3

A new topic will be added. Double click it to specify the topic, or use the checkbox to mark it as completed.

To add a new child topic:

Step 1

If you are not already in the outline editing mode, choose View > Editing Mode > Outlining from the menu bar.

Step 2

Select the topic that you want to add the child topic to.

Step 3

Click the Add Child button below the outline.

Step 4

A new child topic will be added. Double click it to give it a topic.
